The Young Eagle Program was started by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) about 15 or 16 years ago to fly 1 million young people before the end of the Millennium. This goal was accomplished on a national level. Following the achievement of that goal, the program continues in an effort to introduce young people from the age of 8 through17 to the thrill and freedom of powered flight. The local chapter of the EAA provides the opportunity to participate in Young Eagle flights in conjunction with Sky Fair each year.
The local EAA chapter is a group of local pilots and aircraft builders. The local chapter meets at 7 Pm on the third Tuesday of every month.
Rides require a parent or guardian to be present and complete a consent (permission) form. Rides are on a first come first flown basis for ages 8-17. Rides also depend on weather conditions and number of pilots/aircraft who participate. It is anticipated the rides will cease around 11 AM.
